Quinta do Avelar Arinto 2018 White

AmongSintra, Vila Franca, Mafra and Lisbon, the small wine region of Bucelas endures the pressure of urbanism. It is there that, among a group of producers, Quinta do Avelar elaborates some of the most distinguished and original white wines of our country.
 
Vinhards
Quinta do Avelar is one of the oldest producers of “BUCELLAS” wine. Its land extends through the famous “caeiras”, the half slopes and valleys of clay-limestone soils, which constitute the terroir of excellence of the Arinto variety.
With an average age of over thirty years, our vines have the maturity to create a great white wine.
The grapes were harvested at their optimal ripeness in early autumn.
 
Vinification
The grapes, carefully selected in the vineyard, are hand-picked and immediately transported to the winery.
Upon arrival, the grapes are destemmed, pressed, and traditionally vinified using the “Bica Aberta” process. A part fermented in small stainless steel vats, with controlled temperature and another part fermented and aged in used oak barrels.
