Quinta da Extrema Reserva 2017 White
It is among the 4 driest years since 1931, being the 2nd hottest since that year. The resulting high evapotranspiration and low water availability resulted in very high stress
from May until the end of the harvest. The vine was advanced in its cycle about 15 days in relation to the normal one. There were no occurrences of fungal diseases and flowering and birth
were favorable. The result of the water stress in the plants, led to a limited vegetative growth, which resulted in poor maturation mainly on slopes with
southern exposure. The harvest was early, with very low yields and small berries. The result is concentrated wines with medium acidity. The whites will be very lush in aroma.
Winemaking and Stage
Whole bunch pressing, with fermentation in used barrels of 228L, preceded by stage on lees for 6 months, with batonnage in the first 3 months.
