Mariposa Reserva Touriga Nacional 2019 Red
After contributing for the creation of some of the best wines of the Dão region, oenologist Lúcia Freitas returned to the family Estate to elaborate projects that harmonize the respect for the traditions with the dream of deepening the extraordinary character of the wines and the region she knows so well.
Concept
The wines Mariposa are made in a natural way, preserving the most of the natural aromas, flavours and natural acidity of the grapes of the Dao region. They are light and fresh, to drink young, but still with a good aging potential, which is a characteristic of the wines of the region. They are modern, but carry the character of Dao region.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested manually for small boxes of 20 kg, with a pre-selection in the vineyard. The composition of the blend varies with the yields of each variety in the plot. After total destemming the grapes go to a traditional granite “lagar”, where they macerate for about 48 hours, under temperature control. The fermentation is slow, under controlled temperature, and the assemblies are made by foot treading. This wine is aged for 1 year in used French oak barrels of 225 and 500L.
