It is not unusual, in Portugal, for the same family to cultivate the land for several generations. But Casa de Vila Nova stands out by its peculiar longevity: it has belonged to the Lencastre family since the 12th century. These aristocrats from Penafiel have answered the calling of the land to create, in their estate, one of the great Verde wines of the region. Their devotion has been rewarded this year with the 2017 Melhor Verde Branco award.
